looks good moon, let me know how it goes. ive just tested the vantec with the ceramique and it performs about the same as the coolmaster but is marginally louder, so for the mo i'm sticking with the coolmaster (i gotta build ellie a new machine now, a case of keeping up with the joneses i think lol)so the vantec wont go to waste. Ive decided to fit a slot fan over the graphics card as i think alot of the heat in the case is coming from that (theory being if i reduce the ambient temp then the cpu temp should go down). oh one other thing moon dont forget to check you have room around your CPU to fit that thermaltake HSF the vantec only just fitted due to the layout of the Asus MB took me half an hr of cussing to get the thing on and the the same to remove it grrrrrrr.

Trev arr I can't find the size for it but it says it fit a Chaintech 7NJS ZENITH Motherboard in a review I just read. You think it would fit an ASUS A7V8X MB? It (the HSF) doesn't look that big to me? Ooh I hope it would fit

The Asus A7N8X is the one i have, i think the CPU is in thesame place on your board Edi it all depends on the case as well mines in a thermaltake VM3000 and the distance between the PSU and the edge of the motherboard is really close (about 20mm) so getting a screwdriver into the slot at an angle and then pushing down and is very difficult. I could remove the PSU first but that seems a right pain everytime i want to remove the HSF. i would estimate you will need at least 35mm to make the installation comfortable. Hope this helps.

A slot fan seems like an excellent idea. I think I'll try that before changing the cpu fan assembly as the notion of scraping off a melted pad doesn't appeal to me much at present. I'm a bit nervous about my graphics card anyhow as it seems very powerful for the money. I guess a 256MB card is going to generate a lot of heat and there's no fan with it. Any recommendations ?
