just finished set up a new build here (as donna knows) and despite possibly looking like a moron I need some help! I can't get to where my dial-up will remember my password to the ISP, and the "address" window is not retaining any info after shutdown. running 98SE..... I ONCE knew how to access these problems, but now my brain must be dead after a year of being off-line (also: does anyone know of an up-date site now that cnet has put their service in limbo?)

I've escaped from win98se, but as I recall, what you're looking for is found in internet options/connections, and/or in your dial up networking folder under the 'properties' for the connection you are configuring.

when you dial up, isn't there a checkbox on the window that says remember the password for this account?
Another place you can find it, is in your OE program, if you're using it, under tools> accounts> connections.

the "remember password" and "connect automatically" boxes are both grayed out....... "major bummer"
not fixated here, just getting tired of typing in the password every time. I must have something bugggggggered up somewhere! (gosh..here I thought I was perfect!)

Nope, I can't remember. I just stopped using 98 about 8 months ago but I haven't been on dialup in the last 3 1/2 years.

I'm still running 98SE, guys, albeit with Opera 7, which has a nice password management feature. I'll dig out IE and take a look. OK, try going into IE/Tools/Internet Options/Content/Auto Complete and checking all four boxes. I know that IE and OE are supposed to be integrated so that might just enable your 'remember password' box in OE/Tools/Accounts/ Mail/ Properties. Also , make sure you've allowed IE some cache in 'Internet Options/General/Settings/amount of disc space to use. Come on back.

having nothing but problems here, but I always seem to be able to work them out. I thought that it was a prob' with my network login (which I always bypassed (( installed an ether-net card, dont know why)) , so I logged in to that. Now the network log-in prompt is gone but now I get the Windows log-in message instead! If I log in I get auto-complete of dial-up, if I don't ...same old sh** I have no clue where the network stuff is, and my scanner is now not initiating at start-up ! It appears my USB ports are down! Oh well...I won't be bored (I CANT believe no one here used cnet update!....you are all spending too much time in chat rooms! it was a great update engine....so pick some "brains" gang and find something to replace it!)

I tried that cnet update one time and it gave me ten thousand things that I didn't even know what they were.
