Anyone trying out the Release Candidate (Ultimate) build 7100? I am. I installed it on this ol' puter that lil bill, jander, and joe helped me with 3 years ago .......... ...... there may have been others but I can't remember shiat....lol. Anyway, the mobo is an AMD 939 .... with AMD 64 2.8 (single core)...3gig memory ..... I got a cheap nVidia 9500gt 512 card. I installed on a different drive. Install went smooth. Everything worked. The Aero feature is working flawlessly. After using this 7 system for a couple of months, I have grown to really like it. Very responsive. Speedy. Not hogging resources. I like it well enough to invest in it --- thinking Windows 7 Professional. My wife likes it better than our XP Pro. I've got 3 different computer builds saved in my 'wish list' at Newegg.. i7core, Core duo, and AMD Phenom. Of course I need to rent out the kids to get some cash.

I have been so out of the loop this last year I don't even know what windows 7 is. LOL ;D LOL.. I'ts Microsofts replacement for that sorry Vista OS. I never was interested in Vista ..... but I have been staying informed of its replacement (Windows 7). This replacement has been getting a hell of a lot of accolades from beta testers all over. So when Microsoft offered a free public release candidate to download, I got curious and am trying it out now. The release candidate can be used til March 2010. It will get all updates and such. The final version is scheduled for public release Oct. 22 of this year.

I have vista on this laptop, I dont mind it. Maybe I should get this " 7 " and try it on the computer that was left in the house when we bought it.

I understand Vista SP1 isn't so bad. I had and extra HD with fresh install of XP pro, I installed 7 on that drive. Seven moved all of the xp program files and such into folders it named 'Windows.old' (there were 2 of these folders). I just deleted them.

I have downloaded it from MS to test it but never got around to installing it. I am happy with my XP Pro on my desktop and Vista on my laptop so unless it can cook and wash windows I don't really see a need to spend more money on it. ;D

I still have xp......but I'm thinking about a brand new build and using Win7 on it. Give the xp comp to the kids so they can break the damn thing ....(not really, but I bet it'll happen)

I lioke 7 also, I'm running it on a pc that had a 3.0 gig cpu, 2 gig memory, 80 gig drive and an nvidia 8300 agp video card...runs as well as xp does. I have vista on another drive on the same pc and it runs like a dead dick, so I quit booting up in the vista drive and will eventually format the vista drive. I currently use xp pro on my main pc, an i7 core with a msi board
