look here scroll down here to "services" and click "common ports" and it will make a fast check of TCP port 135 for you.

That's supposed to be a real nasty one too. I always keep all of the netbios ports blocked all the time. You also need to block UDP135 also. Look how fast this worm is spreading.

It's been keeping us busy on the Pit. If only people would use a firewall.

I don't understand people, the damn things are free. Are they so slow not to realize the threats on the net. Steve Gibson's site must be taking a beating with everyone wanting to do a port scan. I can't get to it.

clean and rosy here! Of course I downloaded the MS patch a month ago like a good boy, never operate without my zone alarm, and update my Norton AV twice a week! ...but rumor has it that I am boring and don't have a life either! oh for those who aren't as anal-retentive as me: www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/bulletin/MS03-026.aspthe update is listed as 823980 7-16-03 if you use windows update and want to check in the previous downloads section to see if you have already downloaded the patch. if you haven't and are real sloppy about AV and firewall (my port135 has been hit over 50 times in the last 2 hrs, busy aren't they!) : securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.htmlor zdnet.com.com/2100-1105_2-5062524.htmlthe only affected OS's are: Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Services Edition Microsoft Windows 2000 Microsoft Windows XP Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 .....so you can stop hyperventilating if you run something else!

I get the updates right when they come out. Besides, I'm like Dan, it would take a lot to get through my router and firewall and anti-virus, plus Trojan Guard and Trojan Hunter.

another link: www.msnbc.com/news/952935.asp?vts=081520031925&cp1=1..,.UPDATE on link: I just tried windowsupdate from >start menu....the link is re-routed and works fine! I had another one but I lost my post-it note!!!! A friend of mine at work said that he had received an e-mail from Symantec/Norton saying that a new variant was out and if you had WindowsXP not to use the Internet on Saturday because the OS would be vunerable regardless of what protection you had in place.....As far as I can tell this is not a valid e-mail from them. ('discountbob' is probably behind it! see my post at the pit: "worm scare scam")
