PLEASE help me out....I will use any and all suggestions, short of going out there and SHOOTING THE DAMN THING! There.......... I feel better...I just wish there was someone on to talk to....thanks, folks....I appreciate it! PS: I cannot read the light blue font in the clouds at the bottom of the pages! somethig about donations??

Hi! I understand your frustration, up until a couple days ago, I ran win98SE. It's a tough system to troubleshoot when it's in the room with you, let alone from a distance. You are basically attempting the impossible! If she can access system information in the system tools folder, she might have an app called IE5 repair, or something similar. It should appear in the drop down menu for 'tools' If she runs that, it should restore the IE browser to as installed condition. More info as to her system, and exactly what she runs on it will help troubleshoot. Sometimes the windows 'help' can provide a troubleshooter for things that don't work. You are NOT alone!

Hi Heather, It sucks trying to fix another computer long distance doesnt it?
If she is freezing up then she should see what programs are starting up when she turns on her computer. What ever isnt needed should be disabled. A virus scan should be done also.
When you say the pages are blank, do you mean when she is on the internet or when she is trying to view documents and pics etc...........
Start with that then we can go from there.

LOL on the light blue font, I didnt notice that down there. I will have to do some changes. The donation thing is for keeping the board ad free.

Ive only used that program once. I think it was Radio who used it with me. Cant remember exactly how it works. I will do a little reading and see. Get your mom to download and install it and then we can go from there.

VNC sure looks like a great way to help out.
Since the second version, real VNC is most likely the original application that the Tria VNC was made up from, I would most likely try the real VNC out for myself.
Having downloaded both versions, that opportunity will become a reality shortly. :-)
This is the part of win XP that was going to be my next learning expedition, maybe I can provide some help in troubleshooting, and setting up.
I hope you are able to get your mom's machine fixed!

Since things are freezing up on her, and she is unable to open some web sites, I would suggest she run a full virus scan with updated patterns, as Donna suggested and I would also run Spybot. Another option would be to restore the registry if she hasn't rebooted more than 5 times since she started having the problem. If all else fails, she could do a "dirty install" of the OS, that way she wouldn't loose any files she has saved.

Did your Mom Download it also? She needs it on her computer too.
Has she done a virus scan and checked for adware yet?
